Well I guess I didn't have this plane balanced because I let it go and it flew nice for about three feet. Then nose down with a verngance cause the motor quit. All I can say is it was a great crackup. If it had been balanced properly it should have glided to the ground. I'm not sure the parts can be salvaged. Rebuilding is not an option. Jack Baker

Am I right to assume that a plane should glide to a landing if properly balanced. The Jackster

What's to stop a plane from crashing if not balanced beforehand? ? The jackster

All RC airplanes need to be balanced and the G of G set per the makers specs, if a model is tail heavy it will be difficult to control and will invariably at some point cause a crash. Nose heavy makes the model more sluggish to control but is much better than being tail heavy. If you dont have the plans or the makers instruction and spec sheet a good rule of thumb for balance, is to balance at one third of the wing chord. To do this, measure the width of the wing close to the fuslelage and divide the distance by three, the balance point should be one third back from the leading edge of the wing. Quite often this point coincides with the position of a wing spar. Failure to balance a model properly after building is a a recipe for disaster. PS always balance the plane with an empt fuel tank!!! and all the radio gear positioned to balance the airplane. Hope this helps a little Happy Flying Roger
